MACRAMÉ WINDOW HANGING WORKSHOP | THE MARKET AT HASBROUCK HOUSE
SATURDAY | SEPTEMBER 16TH
Macramé suspended in front of a window, a fireplace mantle or above the headboard of a bed adds a wonderful unexpected textural element to the design of a room. One unique method of creating a macramé hanging is to use rope (sometimes referred to as a banner or bunting) as the base for the piece rather than a hard fixed surface like a branch or wood dowel. When creating a piece of macramé using a flexible base the possibilities for installation are more diverse.
In this workshop, Erin will speak to the many uses of macramé created in this fashion and we will focus on creating a piece to be hung in a window. She will guide the intimate group through the steps of this creative process during which you will learn to form two knots that may be used to develop pattern and texture in your piece. You will also focus on creating fringe that softens the lower end of the piece and looks gorgeous when sunlight shines through it.
